Open to 2027 graduate roles in the UK

Nick Efe Oni · Software Engineer

I build systems
made to move.

Backend, cloud and distributed systems built with intent — from event-driven Java services to reproducible AWS infrastructure.

01 / Selected work

Built beyond
the happy path.

Projects shaped around the questions real systems have to answer: how data moves, where state lives, and what happens when things fail.

01 Event-driven backend

TradeStream

A trading-system backend where orders, trades and portfolio updates flow through Spring Boot services and Kafka-compatible Redpanda.

  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Kafka
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
02 Cloud data pipeline

CommitScope

An AWS-backed developer analytics pipeline that turns Git history into queryable code-health datasets and decision-ready dashboards.

  • AWS
  • Terraform
  • ECS
  • Athena
  • QuickSight
03 Performance research

Kafka Security Benchmarking

A dissertation-grade AWS experiment comparing the performance cost of plaintext, TLS and mutual TLS Kafka configurations.

  • Kafka
  • AWS EC2
  • Terraform
  • Python
  • mTLS

More engineering, experiments and works in progress.

02 / Experience

Learn deeply.
Ship deliberately.

I bring product delivery, technical research and leadership into the same room. The result is engineering that considers both the system and the people relying on it.

03 / About

Engineer.
Explorer.
Community builder.

I’m Nick — a final-year MEng Software Engineering student at the University of Sheffield, drawn to backend, cloud and distributed systems.

I like software most at the seams: where one service meets another, where infrastructure turns source code into a working system, and where a technical decision becomes an experience for a real person.

Away from the architecture diagrams, I’ve led a student community, taught programming, built education products and competed in hackathons. I’m happiest when I’m learning quickly and making the work useful.
